DMB’s interest in hosting an OMEA event is another revenue opportunity for DMB to further support our three high school marching band programs. Proceeds from the Dublin Band Showcase will be designated to the three Dublin marching band programs.

So what does this mean?

As our bands travel to other OMEA adjudicated events for competition and OMEA rating this fall, DMB will be hosting our own OMEA competition where other bands from across the state will be traveling to Jerome stadium for OMEA competition and rating

Why do bands need an OMEA rating?

Only bands that receive an OMEA rating of I (Superior) are eligible to compete in the state marching band finals.

What are the ratings at an OMEA competition?

I – Superior
II – Excellent
III – Good
IV – Fair
V - Poor

What are the bands judged on?

  • Musical Performance – technical accuracy, intonation, rhythmic accuracy and tone quality
  • General Effect – takes into account all the elements in the band’s performance
  • Visual Effect – all visual elements (winds, percussion and auxiliary)
  • Visual performance – total movement responsibility of the individual performers skill, technique, form and control.
  • Percussion – musical presentation, technique, general effect.
  • Auxiliary (color guard)- musical interpretation, creativity, execution, timing, precision

How can you help?

The Dublin Band Showcase will depend on parent volunteers from the three Dublin HS band programs. Responsibilities’ are divided up and shared by all three schools.
